Tanglewood Case 3 free essay sample

Also, it will allow them to recruit employees with different strengths and weaknesses, helping them to create a team work that is supported by all of its members. On the other hand, Tanglewood can use targeted recruitment for high management positions that might require specific KSAOs, so the job can be developed. * Media: Tanglewood is media advertising, such as print, radio, and television advertising sources, coupled with respondents filling out a standardized job application. This is an open method of recruitment since it gives the opportunity to a large body of people to apply for the job. Referrals: it is a targeted method since allow employees from Tanglewood to promote and show the positions available to people who might meet the job requirements. * Kiosk: Is an open method since a large variety of people to apply for any position at the store, instead of writing on a piece of paper their personal information, they type it into the system. We will write a custom essay sample on Tanglewood Case 3 or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page * State Job Services: It can be an open method since all unemployed people can look for any positions available. However, it can be targeted since some positions will require some specific qualifications for certain positions available. Staffing Agency: It can be both targeted an open since they can look for special people with specific qualifications, and people with basic skills for any regular job. 3. Western Washington branches find that referrals possess a higher qualification and retention rate than kiosks, media and job service; it also provides the highest percent of applicants hired. Furthermore, Job service is very practical for this side of the company, even though the percentages and the number of applicants hired are less; it provides the same satisfaction as referrals. On the Eastern Washington branches, referrals also play an important role in the recruitment process, even though Kiosks and media both provide a high number of applicants, the hiring and retention rate for referrals is way much higher allowing this to be an important tool for this branch to find future employees. On the other hand, for Northern Oregon branches find that by using staffing agencies a better way to find their employees since it provides them with a higher qualification, short and longer retention. The Kiosks and media provide certain type of percentage and even though they are cheaper, they are not as effective as hiring an agency. Finally, In Southern Oregon Kiosks provide the bigger pool of applicants, but it holds a low retention and qualification rate. In this branches they also prefer to use staffing agencies since it provides a better short and long time retention and qualification for the job; however, staffing agencies represent a higher costs, since it is more expensive than referrals and kiosks. . The Northern Oregon suggests an idea of using Kiosks and staffing agencies for hiring employees for all the stores, they believe this is the most accurate way that Tanglewood should use and implement to recruit new workforce; these methods have not only been successful Northern Oregon, but for South Oregon region too. However, The Eastern and Western regions have used a different approach, they have used the employee referral tool to recruit new employees, and it has been s uccessful until the moment. I believe this region does not have a valid point, because if they decide to generalize the hiring and recruitment process into general ways as Kiosks and staffing companies, these other branches might start using and hiring people who does not have clearly understand what the needs, tasks, basic requirements and knowledge for the job are. Also, by implementing these new policies these branches might not receive the same quantity of people trying to enter the organization, and quality from the employees, affecting the working environment and results of these stores. . Tanglewood wants to keep improving their customer service quality to better assist the costumers; they should focus on obtaining sufficient quality from the variety of people who would like to work at Tanglewood, allowing employees to see this company and this position as a long term commitment. If we pay attention what Tanglewood is scared the most is the retention rates of positions from their employees, since employe es do not believe and feel any kind of closure between them and the job. Furthermore, Tanglewood has noticed before that many employees hired without any kind of retail experience do not recognize the importance of having good customer service skills, and training is not enough to solve this issue. Tanglewood should look for people with certain skills for specific positions, they should look for quality employees who have at least a minimum of knowledge, and with the help of training reinforce their knowledge and teach them how to apply this on their job. 6. A realistic recruitment message is a basic way of communication that states the name of the company and the job as it is. The purpose of this type of communication is that companies try to sell the job to applicants with only the positive things about the job, like good salary and benefits. Job attributes in an RJP for an associate: POSITIVE JOB ATTRIBUTES * Dental, Vision and Medical care. * Belong to a strong and respected workforce. * Training in different learning areas. * Different opportunities to obtain promotion. NEGATIVE JOB ATTRIBUTES * Salary has not risen for the past four years. * Promotions are very selective. * Annual reduction of benefits for family members. A branded message is when an organization wants to show a good image, so future applicants might develop a connection feeling towards the organization, in this way the company will try to sell the idea to the applicant by saying that this company is a great place to work surrounded by nice, helpful and committed people. * Would you like to work in a nice competitive environment in which you can exceed your abilities as a professional? Well, come and apply at Tanglewood stores, and learn and master your abilities while getting paid; receive medical, dental and vision care and 401K. Don’t waste your time!!

Free Essays on Civil War Reconstruction

Over the last 138 years, we as a nation have fumbled with the notion of freedmen and their role in society after the Civil War. Until the civil rights movement we looked back on Lincoln’s legacy of Reconstruction carried out by President Johnson as a noble step towards a truly free society. Until the mid 1900s it was clear who were the instigators and supporters of the Reconstruction. Andrew Johnson’s clear and â€Å"brave battle† towards Reconstruction targeted the carpetbaggers and the scalawags as corrupt people who took advantage of a devastated southern economy. I suppose they assumed after a time of war, it is wrong to pursue capitalism and opportunity (carpetbaggers) and see the potential of a new open opportunistic government (scalawags). Their egos and status clouded the vision of our government from seeing black people as they are-equal citizens of earth. Whites thought of them as children who couldn’t handle the complexity of co-running our government, when in fact we couldn’t handle or maybe were even a little intimidated by the complexity and potential of our African American brothers. It’s not surprising that the loudest voice of the time, our government, won the support bred from white propaganda that everything will be fine and the black man is free and happy. As unfair as it sounds, it took our black community nearly seventy-five years to gain the status and respect, making them a credible source of what the reconstruction really meant to blacks. In 1935, a black historian and activist by the name of W.E.B. Du Bois produced and released his view, the African American view, on what the Reconstruction Era really entailed. He entitled his book Black Reconstruction in America. Although his book was ignored by most historians, this was just the foundation of the social change that was to occur in the next five decades. Free Essays on Civil War Reconstruction Free Essays on Civil War Reconstruction In the years between 1860 and 1877 the citizens of the southern United States were faced with numerous social and constitutional issues that had been escalating for many years. With the Civil War and the issues of slavery and racism becoming very imminent, America was on the verge of major social and constitutional revolutions. The way these issues were handled would have a major impact on the United States as it is today. The secession of the southern states and the forming of the Confederacy brought about the first major constitutional change. The south felt that they needed to form the Confederacy because they felt that their states’ rights were being imposed upon by the Federal government (Doc. A). The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 became one of the most important constitutional changes in that it freed the slaves in the 11 states of the Confederacy. Lincoln’s plan for reconstruction of the south was the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction, which he instituted in 1864. He did this because he wanted the south to rejoin the Union. His plan was well liked in the south because it did not give blacks the right to vote and it only required a 10% loyalty oath vote. Tennessee was the first state to accept Lincoln’s plan and rejoin the Union. Later that same year, Congress had a response to Lincoln’s plan that was known as the Wade Davis Bill. Included in the Wade Davis Bill was a 50% loyalty oath vote and slavery was to be outlawed. It was required that state conventions were held, where new state constitutions were written. Soldiers and high-ranking military officers were not allowed to be part of the state conventions. This bill was given to President Lincoln right before Congress was to be recessed for the season. Lincoln did not immediately accept or veto the Wade Davis Bill, but he held onto it until after Congress had recessed, and this became known as the infamous â€Å"pocket veto.† The 13th and ... A Critique of Lost Names, a Book by Richard E. Kim

A Critique of Lost Names, a Book by Richard E. Kim Love Conquers Hate In the book Lost [1] Names by Richard E. Kim, the Koreans ingenuity from experience bolsters Edward Siedensticker’s opinion that Lost Names is not a poem of hate, but a poem of love. The Koreans in Lost Names do not fight the Japanese’s hatred with hatred back to the Japanese. The Korean people understood that fighting the Japanese’s violence and hatred would result in death and damage for both sides, and keep adding to their suffering. When the Koreans realize the consequences of fighting with hate, they wisely choose to fight the Japanese with love. A wise man would know not to fight violence with violence. Back when Koreans and Japanese had a rough relationship; the Japanese kept the Korean people hostage, increased famine for the Koreans, and forbid the from practicing their culture. Temporarily, the Koreans people wanted to take revenge on the Japanese for causing great suffering for the people. The Koreans realized that in the long run, making the Japanese suffer would be useless and a waste of time. The narrator and his father came to the conclusion that making peace with the Japanese and forgetting all their past mishaps would be beneficial for the Korean and the Japanese people. The following passage supports my reasoning: â€Å"Please help us! Please help us!†, he is saying. [] â€Å"Get up†, the narrator says to the man and his wife, â€Å"My father would have saved you† (159). The narrator may not have been willing to let the man and his wife in if he just thought about it for a few seconds. He t ook his time to really think about what the right thing to do was. Being nicer to the Japanese may not benefit the narrator and his people now, but as times change the narrator and his father know that peace would be the best for their people. As the narrator knows how it would feel to be treated unfairly from the Japanese, like when the narrator had his culture taken away from him and being beaten constantly from the Japanese; all because the Koreans are seen as inferior through the Japanese’s eyes. The narrator’s occurrences make him realize why his father is kind to the Japanese when the Japanese are cruel to the Koreans. The narrator’s realization implies that he is learning to fight with love not hate in the passage. Secondarily, the Koreans changed their views of the Japanese because they knew how it felt to be treated immorally. The following quote from Lost Names supports my assertion, â€Å"A youngman with a shotgun is running into the house from the west gate shouting, A man from the police is coming sir! My father says, Bring him in. [] We will turn them over to you, provided the issue of your receipt, we accept your terms, says the narrator’s father† (188). The passage rehashes the idea that the Korean people are learning from the wise ways of the narrator’s father. The narrator’s father does not go up to the shameful Japanese and beat them up for all the things they have done to the Korean people, instead he politely asks for a receipt and makes a compromise. The Koreans want to ruin the Japanese, but they learn that making peace would be the better option from the narrator’s father. His father sets a good example to the Koreans and the Japanese with h is respectful actions. The narrator learns from the father how to fight hate with love, and they teach the other Koreans. The Koreans shrewdness makes Lost Names a poem of love. As the evidence displays above, the poem of love is dominant over the poem of hate in Lost Names. Although there are examples of violence and hatred from the Japanese, the Koreans wisely don’t act for revenge, which diminishes the idea that Lost Names could be a poem of hatred alludes to that Lost Names is a poem of love. The end of Lost Names foreshadows that the Japanese and the Koreans have made peace with each other. The theme from the Lost Names teaches a good lesson; fight hate with love, and make peace.

MANAGEMENT Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

MANAGEMENT - Research Paper Example The strategic organizations are able to exploit the benefits and opportunities with clear targets as well as required resources and dynamism (Burkhart & Reuss, 1993). A number of businesses are analyzing and applying strategic planning concepts and methodologies that have major contributions to successes in the business fields. The fundamental notion of strategic planning is to create plans, which help businesses to undertake in an uncertain future and are founded on clear visions. The future plans may have several years of strategic planning. Sometimes, it may be as long as of two decades (Anthony & Young, 1999). Strategy planning can be described as â€Å"the plans and activities developed by an organization in pursuit of its goals and objectives, particularly in regard to positioning itself to meet external environmental demands relative to its competition† (Kovner & Neuhauser, 1990). Strategic planning for example Wal-Mart offers a clear outline and that helps in coordinat ion endeavors and harmonization of the company. Moreover, it helps companies to have better decision-making, good internal and external communication in addition to improved motivations amongst participating members (Begun & Heatwole, 1999). Strategic planning covers future decisions by human resources of organizations. Strategic Planning helps the management of company the needed direction and goals for internal as well as external environments. Strategic Levels The contemporary organizations generally implement many levels for successful running of the organizations (Beamish, 2000). Each strategic level aims at distinct planning tasks and objectives. The strategic levels are meant to apply the decisions made by businesses and their impacts on the organizations. Following are levels of planning strategies: 1. Corporate strategy 2. Business strategy, and 3. Functional strategy. Corporate level strategy covers the decisions the company made regarding allocation of resources to achiev e the desired goals. It also makes the decisions regarding new services and diversifications provided by the company. Business level strategy concerns with the decisions regarding how the companies would be competitive in the business environment for a particular service or product. Functional level strategy focuses on how a particular business would undertake and operate various business strategies. The successful application of the planning strategies might include modern systems, employment, and training of staff in addition to and the creation of new business partnerships. However there are certain limitations for many organizations to execute some specific plans. The best method for the execution of strategic planning involves both a strategy formulation process and an implementation procedure. Formulation of the planning strategy decides about the modus operandi and its execution. Both these procedures are strongly interrelated and could be assessed individually. Strategy form ulation Strategy formulation is a quite flexible process and is employed to evaluate or re-examine a company’s core values and philosophy. Moreover it helps in development of company’s plans to realize its targets and goals (Beamish, 2000). Following are the key determinants in the strategy formulation procedures: 1. Consensus of mission and vision 2. Environmental assessment, and 3. Setting goals and objectives. Mission/Vision A good strategic plan ensures that a

Cubism was one of the strongest art movements in the 20th century that gave birth to many other movements such as futurism and suprematism. The Forefathers of this revolutionary way of painting were Pablo Picasso and George Braque. Although it may have seemed to be abstract and geometrical to an untrained eye, cubist art do depict real objects. The shapes are flattened onto canvas so that different sides of each shape can be shown simultaneously from many angles. This new style gave a 3 dimensional look on the canvas. The cubist movement gave rise to an extraordinary reassessment of the interaction between form and space changing the course of western art forever. The groundbreaking Demoiselles d’Avignon was controversial not only for the way the women looked but also for the positions of the women. Although Picasso did not emphasize on detail, he â€Å"saw that the rational, often geometric breakdown if the human head and body employed by so many African artists could provide him with the starting point for his own re-appraisal of his subjects†(Cubism 53). â€Å"The naked women become inextricably bound up in a flux of shapes or planes which tip backwards and forwards from the two-dimensional surface to produce much the same sensation as an elaborate sculpture†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Cubism 54). Pharmacy Sales and Inventory System Essay

Chapter I The Background and its Setting Introduction Time is very important in every people especially when we do our job. We have done all at the correct time so that we can meet the quota of the company every day. It is difficult in doing all things manually particularly when you’ve lack of time to do this, like counting the number of items that are already sold, how much is the total amount and determinable number of the stocks of each medicine. The problem in manual is that, a pharmacy assistant has a great chance to make some errors and fraud in inventory because in the processing of sales and inventory usually begins when a customer bought a medicine over the counter and sometimes they have made a wrong total amount of medicine by means of confusion and crowdedness of the customers. They couldn’t determine faster the number of stocks of each item and the out of stock. Since it is often times that the managers do not have enough time or information to check the items sold and remaining, they don’t even know the exact quantity of stocks of the medicine. For the customer, the main problem is that they are waiting for the pharmacy assistant that is looking for the medicine they intended to buy, if they have the particular brand of medicine that they are buying or are they still have a stock. It is also a waste of time to the part of customer. So the main focus of the study is on how can be easily know the amount and quantity of medicine with less effort to the employee and improve the accurate information in a receipt. This paper shows about the inventory system. The Pharmacy Sales and Inventory system is accessible by an administrator. They can customize the interface which can add, edit, filter, and monitor all stock of medicines in the pharmacy. This system will show all the changes made by the administrator. Background of the Study Today, computer has become a part of life. It is evident that most of the country’s institutions still do not use the high technology. Particularly in  pharmacies, daily transactions, inventories and record of sales are still done on paper. People know that modern pharmacies are now operating at great pace striving to serve as many customers as possible with the best of their abilities. But as the years goes by, the number of customers has grown and various cases arise that the manual method of managing customers’ transactions, inventories and updating sales, is no longer practical. In this study, researchers hope to develop a system that will minimize all works of manual methods, therefore allowing owners ease in updating inventory – a system that is fully automated, user-friendly, time effective and efficient. Owner knows that number of customers continually increase, managing a pharmacy can also become increasingly difficult, especially if everything is done manually. The researcher will tend to make a system for the easier way of providing information about the product bought, sold, and stored. In addition, the system will attempt to provide receipts using the new system to show the effectiveness of modernizing the company’s current system. This system tends to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process done by the company. The convenience of this new system will help to promote the company as well as to help its employees do an easier task for the enhancement of the system process. Statement of the Problem The study will enhance the existing inventory control system for pharmacies for a better inventory management and to eliminate/reduce risks of errors and fraud. It will seek to answer what enhancement and design the pharmacy can adopt for a more effective and efficient inventory system. The researchers aim to answer the following: 1.Will the system provide satisfaction to pharmacies in terms of: a.Reliability b.Maintainability c.Portability d.Functionality e.Security 2.Does Pharmacy Sales and Inventory System helps pharmacist in their management processes and sales? a.Time Efficiency b.Accuracy c.Convenience 3.Does the system will provide correct and reliable information to the pharmacy? a.Information accuracy b.Data consistency 4.Does the system will help provide good quality of service to customers in terms of: a.Quality of products b.Faster transactions Significance of the Study This system provides more efficient and faster transactions to pharmacies. It will also provide better service to the customers. †¢Pharmacist- improves stock management, because the system automatically tells what products are lacking and expired. †¢Customer- provides faster transaction and less time of waiting because the pharmacist can give all the information of the product. †¢Administrator- enables to improve the control of the system and also enables to improve the design, the efficiency of the system. Theoretical Framework This Inventory System is important for any business particularly in Pharmacies. An inventory system must balance having enough inventories on hand to meet the demand of customers while investing as little money as possible in inventory. The scope of an inventory system considers which needs the inventory system addresses. These include valuing the inventory, measuring the change in inventory and planning for future inventory levels. The value of the inventory at the end of each period provides a basis for financial reporting on the balance sheet. Measuring the change in inventory allows the company to determine the cost of inventory sold during the period. The inventory level and changes allow the company to plan for future inventory needs. This Pharmacy Information System is a computerized system that handles many one of many outpatient functions, such as taking prescription orders, prescription entry, and pricing of the medications, to fill and refill medication, medication inventory, and the financial management and purchasing Conceptual Framework Scope and Limitation This system will focus on the list of the medicine in the pharmacy that will keep the computerized record of the medicines, it will also store the details of the medicines and can print all the records, and all the sales will be stored in the sales history and the changes will be recorded at the change log, so that the community in the place/city will assure in this system. Only the IT personnel can edit the prizes and the stock of medicine and only the pharmacist can access this system. Definition of terms Sales and Inventory System- software-based solution used to simultaneously track sales activity and inventory Pharmacy- a store where medicinal drugs are dispensed and sold Data- fast and statistics collected together for reference or analysis Medicinal Drugs- something that treats or prevents or alleviates the symptoms of disease Pharmacist- a person who is professionally qualified to prepare and dispense medicinal drugs Customer- a person that buys goods or services from a store or business
